What is Dr. Cain’s approach to mental health?
Dr. Cain uses integrative approaches to helping patients from all around the world. Her primary focus is homeopathy, but she is also a medical doctor in the state of Arizona, and will do a diagnostic work up with each patient, and make additional recommendations when necessary.
Why aren’t there more homeopathic physicians treating mental health?
Homeopathy in and of itself is a very specialized field, and there are relatively few quality homeopaths in the United States. In addition to this, in order to specialize in mental health, it is incumbent for the physician to dedicate an even greater amount of study to not only the variety of mental health disorders and their presentation, but also to expand their knowledge of homeopathic medicines beyond what is seen or known among the general population. Because of this, there have not yet been enough people to have been successfully treated by a homeopathic physician for mental health to create a greater community awareness. There are current efforts on the part of this specialized community of doctors to conduct research studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of homeopathy in mental health conditions. One not-for-profit organization dedicated to expanding public awareness is called Homeopathic Medicine for Mental Health.

How long does treatment typically last?
Frequently asked questions that we see quite commonly include: “what is my prognosis?” and “how long will treatment last?” Follow up visits in the beginning, typically occur once per month, and then as the patient begins to get better, the visits may become less frequent. This is dependent upon the severity, chronicity and character of disease, as well as if the patient has good coping skills, a supportive family/ social network, and is engaged in the healing process. That being said, Homeopathic and natural treatment is not a quick fix, and therefore if you are looking for a quick fix, you and Dr. Cain may not be a good fit. In those cases Dr. Cain recommends you contact any of the clinicians listed under her resource page and see if there is someone better suited to meet your needs.
Do I need to stop my current medications and supplements before seeing Dr. Cain?
Absolutely not! Dr. Cain is able to work with you and your psychiatrist in balancing your medications. We do see, however, that often times as you start to feel better and more balanced on your homeopathic medicine that you may need to start to reduce your prescription drugs. Please note: Always change or modify your prescription medications under the supervision of a medical practitioner.
Will I need to order my laboratory work before seeing Dr. Cain?
